My research interests are insect-microbial symbioses.

I joined Shenyang Agricultural University, China in 2017.12 as the professor. Before that, I was a research associate at Cornell University in 2016.8-2017.12. I did postdoctoral research at Zhejiang University, China (with Dr. Shu-Sheng Liu), The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel (with Dr. Henryk Czosnek) and Cornell University (with Dr. Angela e. Douglas) from 2008 to 2016. I obtained a PhD supervised by Professor Shu-Sheng Liu at Zhejiang University, China in 2008, MS and BA at Shenyang Agriculture University, China in 1998-2005.

I serve as the editors of seven journals including Current Opinion in Insect Science, Journal of Insect Physiology and Frontiers in Microbiology. I am also the peer reviewer for more than 30 international journals and five international grants and prizes. I am the recipient of The Certificate of Merit, awarded by the Council for the International Congresses of Entomology.
